Greetings all - I searched this group for a similar post, but didn't seem to find a previous mention. If there is a previous mention that I missed, please disregard this one. For those of you who are extremely mouse-centric, this probably won't help much more than just dragging an icon to the BBEdit Dock icon (you DO have BBEdit in your Dock, right?!)....
I, like many of you, have been frustrated with Snow Leopard re- assigning my BBEdit-created files to other programs (especially things like CSS files that now open by default in XCode, or worse: plain text files that open in TextEdit!). I use the keyboard quite a bit for navigating around the Finder window, and like to open files using <Command>+<Down Arrow> to open files. But I sometimes forget about Snow Leopard's assumptions and end up opening a text file in a program I don't intend. After a little digging around the Finder menu, I found "Open File in BBEdit" in Finder -> Services. So in Systems Preferences -> Keyboard -> Application Shortcuts, I created a new keyboard shortcut for Finder: Menu Title = "Open File in BBEdit", Keyboard Shortcut = <Command>+<Shift>+<Down Arrow>.
