I like Emacs key bindings, and I also like using the escape key for
completions. I can't get the key bindings and completion to work together. I
think I've done what the documentation asks to activate the feature.

Demonstration:

In Preferences > Keyboard, I set "Emulate Emacs key bindings" (but not "Display
status window").

On the command line, I set
    defaults write com.barebones.bbedit UseEscapeKeyAsCompletionTrigger -bool
YES
and restarted BBEdit. (Doing a "defaults read" before the write showed that the
value was "1" anyway.)

I opened a Markdown file. I verified that ctrl-T transposed two characters. At
the end of the line

    network-based services. serv

I pressed esc-esc. No completion appeared.

I am sharing an Application Support > BBEdit directory through Dropbox.

What am I doing wrong?
