Hi. If you are using MAMP then your sites will actually be stored in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/ .

Within htdocs create a folder for each site. That folder will be the site's root.

When configuring the Site setup in BBEdit, the "server URL" will be

localhost:8888 .

The "path on server" will be simply the folder name in htdocs in which you put the site.

Browse to that folder in order to configure "Local site root" and then wherever you might keep templates and includes.

You can then check "Use local preview server" and for its URL, use:

http://localhost:8888/

To access and work with the files in your newly created site, I recommend you create a Project for each site.

File > New > Project...

Name it and save it inside the root folder for that site (or anywhere, actually). A project window will open where you have the opportunity to add any and all relevant files to the left column for easy access. At the very bottom of that column, lower left, click the + button to add files and folders to the project. You can add the entire root folder for the site in which case everything in that folder including asset subfolders will be available in the project file list. I prefer to add files and folders individually, though, excluding the ones I don't need. Find whatever method works best for you in that regard. Project files need not be specifically site files. For example, during development, I may add a client's Word docs with their notes even though I store that doc elsewhere. Double-clicking that Word doc in the project file list will open it in Word, by the way. Same goes for image and other non-BBedit files.

Hope this all helps.

Hi I am VERY new to bbedit. My dreamweaver is very slow and erroneous
so i'm trying to switch to bbedit as it is meant for the mac os x. MY
QUESTION IS THIS:

I run an external server (called MAMP) on my computer. I'm trying to
create a new site (as in dreamweaver) where i can run my
webpages(which contain php scripts as well) locally on my laptop using
MAMP

I succeeded in creating the site(help from the manual) but i dont know
how to access my files on this new site. I can see the site has been
created using "setup". but i have no idea how to access these files.

Please how can i access these files from my newly created site? I run
BBedit version 10.1.2.

Your help will be very very much appreciated.

Thank You
