I'm pretty sure I used to be able to specify a full path in the file dialog
goto and get bbedit to insert the contents of a dot file.

        • Edit->Insert->File Content
        • Get open dialog
        • type in ~/.bashrc
        • Get contents of .bashrc inserted

Or am I misremembering?

There are three incidences of 'dot' in the manual, and all have to do with
matching.

On page 52 there is:

> If you type in an absolute path, or a home-directory-relative path, e.g.
> “/usr/include/ errno.h” or “~/.bash_profile”, BBEdit will now show the file
> if it exists at that location.

But that doesn't seem to apply to the insert command. Also, "Show Hidden Files"
in the Open/Save dialog doesn't apply that preference to the Insert->File
Content open dialog (and as noted in another thread, is not sticky but must be
enabled every time).

(BBEdit 10.5.2)
