I submitted a support request and got the following response: The behavior you mention is due to an OS services bug, which we believe we should be able to work around in a future update.
For the meantime, the following action should restore normal behavior: In the Finder, open the Finder's Preferences window, select the Advanced options pane, and turn on the "Show all filename extensions" option. This fixed the issue.
