I, too, use Fetch, for all the reasons Greg mentioned. I have
used Transmit and Interarchy (all the way back to when it was
named Anarchie), especially when Fetch lay fallow. But I
returned to Fetch when its development was revived several years ago.
For many purposes, though, BBEdit's built-in FTP/SFTP capability
does the job just fine. I recommend getting familiar with that.

With Fetch, double-clicking downloads the file, so you have to
select the file, then click the edit button.
However, Fetch features mirroring, and you can save mirror
settings -- allowing you to double-click the Finder icon and
have your site/folder/whatever mirrored.
Also, Fetch stores its settings in your Dropbox account, so
when you move from your desktop machine to your laptop, each of
your bookmarks is there.
