(the _ is a space) Could be change to: Find: (\s+[^>]*<input type="text"\s+data-answer="[^"]*"\s+ class="exercice-input">[^\s]* replace: <span>\1</span> If there can be one space, then usually you can have more than one, so using \s+ covers your spaces. So this should function for you...
