I have a strange problem that just popped up. I have a file
(now named "TestFile") that is an RTF (not RTFD). If I open
the file, or drag it into the "My Files & Folders" list in the
Multi-File search dialog, and run a search for a string in it,
it will find it. But if search for the same string with the
containing *folder* selected, it won't find it.
RTF files are not text files, even though RTF files consist
primarily of recognizable plain text -- it's an implementation detail.
By opening or explicitly choosing an RTF, you've bypassed
BBEdit's file filtering (which is used when scanning folders).
So, you could add "rtf" to the extension mappings in the
Languages prefs (map it to "Text File") if this is something you
need to do routinely.
