I'm feeling little proud and a little sheepish. As I wrote 1300 lines when 3 shell scripts totaling 6 lines - or just a unix worksheet- could do the job great. But it was a fun project. Also this is almost certain not to work on anyone else's computer... I laugh and cry.
It's a package <https://github.com/CiiDub/Exercism-BBEdit-Package> that works with a non-profit programming teaching site called Exercism.org <https://exercism.org>. I think this might be a site a few folks on this list might be interested in. There are tracks on Awk, Pearl, Ruby, Python.. all great languages for manipulating text. Also customizing BBEdit is a great way to learn, as sometimes you just want things just so and that can be pretty darn motivating. I use to work with websites in another life and it was fun to seeing a projects bigger than one file to fruition. An interesting challenge was getting AppleScript and Ruby to play nice, I really like how dialog_builder.rb and exercism_dialogs.rb came out. Thanks to anyone who wants to check it out and give me their thoughts. Finally, I made a screenshot for the readme. It has BBEdit in it, if that isn't proper let me know and I'll remove it. - Chris -- This is the BBEdit Talk public discussion group.
