The short question - does anyone know of a company besides HP that will service HP plotters?
The detail... we have a HP DesignJet 800 plotter with a "System error 21:10 - Call HP Support" message lodged in it's craw. Everything I find online indicates that what needs to be replaced is something called the "service station" which appears to sell for ~$110 on HP's parts site.
For the privilege of not getting my hands dirty (and fixing anything else that might be wrong if it isn't the service station) HP wants $1530. Nice mark-up.
I really don't want to work on this thing myself however I can't in good conscience ask the company to pay $1.5k for my convenience.
Any info you have to share would be appreciated.
