Hi, I'm writing because we are looking for local (or willing to come to Boston) python ladies who could help out with a workshop for women and their friends. We're holding our second Boston workshop on the evening of Friday, May 13th and all day on Saturday, May 14th. Our workshops are very much based on the successful Bay Area Ruby workshops that have been going on for the last two years or so, http://workshops.railsbridge.org/2011/01/celebrate-women-in-open-source-on-jan-28th/ We're aiming for a one-to-five student/helper ratio. Learning about a programming language from scratch produces *lots* of questions. Part of the goal of this workshop is also to show how many women are already interested in programming, so we are primarily asking women to help. * Who we're looking for Someone who identifies as a woman Is patient and enjoys helping people with technical difficulties Is a Python user! * The Time Commitment Friday, May 13th, 5:30 - 9:30 Saturday, May 14th, 9:00 - 5:00 Plus a few hours during the preceding week to get familiar with the materials for the workshop. Of course, if you want to get involved in building the curriculum we'd welcome your feedback! Cheers, Deb [email protected] PS Anyone who is interested in getting updates for this event or future workshops should join the meet-up group http://meetup.bostonpython.com/ _______________________________________________ womeninfreesoftware mailing list [email protected] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/womeninfreesoftware _______________________________________________ bblisa mailing list [email protected] http://www.bblisa.org/mailman/listinfo/bblisa
