Hello all, I'm working on a program that performs transformations on the bytecodes of some classes. My software is intended to be part of a commercial product. However, I found out today that two US patents exist, one covering the process of bytecode instrumentation, and the other one covering the process of bytecode transformation (that is, changing the semantics of the program rather than just adding instrumenting code to it).
My program falls mainly under the second category, whereas from what I read in this mailing list most people are working in some kind of instrumentation, am I wrong? It seems to me that both patent descriptions cover the process of instrumenting/transforming bytecode in a very general, comprehensive way. Anyhow, does anyone know how these patents may affect our work? Has anyone had any problem regarding these patents? This is very important to me, and I guess also for you, since we wouldn't want to be sued for what we're doing! Thanks a lot in advance for any replies. Manuel. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
