The question doesn't make much sense. With the current code, I treat
mine as a wireless interface -- surely that's just up to the user's

I suspect you're actually asking if there's an plan to assign bizarre
_names_ to the device rather than using the standard 'eth%d'? I'm not
aware of any plans, or any reason why anyone would want such a thing.
Worse than naming the wireless interface eth%d, it also calls it eth0 or
eth1 randomly on my machine. That's reason enough to force a specific
