Alright, before the final patch you sent me, the LEDs both stayed on. With the patch applied, the lights stay on, and the LINK LED blinks whenever there is activity. For example, when I ping a host at a regular interval, I can watch the LINK LED blink off for a split second at every byte sent. Downloading makes it blink on and off fairly fast, as expected. Assuming that all this is correct, your patch seems to work great! I am unable to test the 20 error limit now that you got my card working well, but the code looks like it would work.
