Maybe the error is somewhere else.

AFAIK a PC-Card is handled like a PCI device. Therefore, from 
pciutils you can use "lspci" to look at the PCI settings and 
tinker with them using "setpci".

Maybe "lspci -vvv" displays different timing information before 
and after the suspend/resume, e.g. a different latency for the 
BCMxxxx or for another PCI device, which then "steals us" bus 
time.
