I have no idea. I _guess_ it should be set.
"Gmode" does actually mean "use the 2.4GHz-band PHY", as far as
I can tell.

The gmode bit in the MACCTL is not that important. In fact, we didn't set
it for a long time and I think bcm43xx doesn't properly set that, too.
But phy->gmode is pretty important to get right. But usually it results
in machine-check exceptions when set wrong on a unicore-PHY.
