Dear Experts:

When I do "nmap" to localhost, I get the following response:

Starting nmap 3.81 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2005-08-04 20:10 BDT
Interesting ports on localhost (127.0.0.1):
(The 1653 ports scanned but not shown below are in state: closed)
PORT STATE SERVICE
37/tcp open time
80/tcp open http
111/tcp open rpcbind
113/tcp open auth
139/tcp open netbios-ssn
445/tcp open microsoft-ds
621/tcp open unknown
685/tcp open unknown
711/tcp open unknown
725/tcp open unknown

A trial and error method shows that when I run NIS with rc.nfsd,
rc.yp, on this machine, I get these "unknown" tcp ports open. I was
wondering, why they are "unknown" and/or is there a way to stop them
(if they are vulnerable).

Other services I run includes: SAMBA, httpd, SSHD. My OS is Slackware 10.1

Thanks.
