thank you Teresa for this post.  it has given me an idea. ( i too, can not
afford the cost of a water egg.). i've been growing bushel basket gourds
for a couple of years now wanting to make drums.this year there are a lot of
smaller ones on the vine due to the drought. i'm thinking they would make
good prep storage containers. i think i would coat them with beeswax to
repel water, and line the interior with clay, since they really smell. this
would be after they are cured of course. the shape is round with a bit of
teardrop shape from hanging on a trellis. i think native peoples used them
for food vessels, for storage. we'll see how it works. :)sharon
