You can check it by examining the TaskManager. You didn't see it because the ASPNET is an unprivlileged local account. By default, the ASPNET account is logged on using a Batch account, and cannot interact with the interactive desktop directly. It's running on the different window station & desktop from the one you see in front of you now. I think that it's pointless to launch a process from a web application and let it display and idle in the remote server. The user doesn't see it, cannot control the UI either.
