 Instead of returning from the stored procedure explicitly, you can still get the 
value of @@error. Simply catch the SqlException and make use of Number property 
thereof.   try { ... cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); ... }catch(SqlException sExp) {    
Debug.WriteLine("Error code: "+sExp.Number);   }   regards Sumit
