One of 
the ways could be use the uniqueIdentifier, Identity or timestamp field in 
the corresponding table, which should be modified when the corresponding row is 
modified. Just before update see whether the value in that field is same to you 
fetched earlier or not. If yes, then go ahead with update and if No , then 
the record has been updated  by somebody else - Throw Error.

but dont it increase the 
                number of transactions.What if i will be having single insert 
                statements where in I update some master tables 
                etc..
