This course is intended as an introduction to BizTalk Server 2004, one of Microsoft's
largest and most complex business applications to date. The primary objective of this
course is to provide a high-level familiarity with all of the concepts, tools,
components, and processes comprising BizTalk Server 2004. <o:p></o:p>
To accelerate learning during class, demonstrations and lab exercises consist of
finished applications that can be quickly deployed, analyzed, and modified. To
maximize coverage, individual class participants choose the schemas, functoids,
adapters, pipeline components, etc. matching their interest. <o:p></o:p>
1. BizTalk Server 2004 Solutions <o:p></o:p>
Provides a visual overview of BTS 2004. <o:p></o:p> BTS 2004 solutions for B2B and
EAI Scenarios <o:p></o:p> Get answers to business process questions by
monitoring a live BTS 2004 solution <o:p></o:p> How BTS 2004 integrates with manual
business processes <o:p></o:p>
2. BizTalk Server 2004 Architecture <o:p></o:p>
Provides an overview of BTS 2004 concepts, architecture and tools. <o:p></o:p>
How BTS 2004 compares with BTS 2002 <o:p></o:p> How to build a BizTalk 2004
Project <o:p></o:p> How to deploy a BizTalk 2004 Project <o:p></o:p>
3. BizTalk Schemas and Maps <o:p></o:p>
BizTalk Schemas and Maps are presented in detail, with many hands-on labs for creating
and managing schemas and maps for XML, Flatfiles, and EDI. <o:p></o:p> Basics of XML
Schemas (XSD) vs. XDR <o:p></o:p> How to use the BizTalk Schema Editor
<o:p></o:p> How to manage schemas and maps within BizTalk Projects <o:p></o:p>
How BTS 2004 maps differ from BTS 2002 maps <o:p></o:p> How to use loops
and new functoids in BTS 2004 <o:p></o:p> How to troubleshoot validation and
transformation errors <o:p></o:p>
4. BizTalk Server 2004 Features <o:p></o:p>
Hands-on labs for BTS 2004 security and network configurations are impractical to
cover in this class, but understanding these topics is extremely important for all
audiences. Business Activity Services provides a meaningful context for security
regarding Trading Partner integration, and the Microsoft Business Rules Framework
effectively demonstrates the flexibility and efficiency of implementing business
policies for individual or entire groups of trading partner interchanges. <o:p></o:p>
How the Enterprise Single Sign-On System provides secure access to BizTalk
Server 2004 and all applications which may participate in BTS 2004 business processes
<o:p></o:p> How Trading Partner Agreements are implemented and enforced using
Business Activity Services <o:p></o:p> How to monitor, report, and analyze
Trading Partner interchanges <o:p></o:p> How Business Rules modify the processing
of interchanges without redesigning business process implementations <o:p></o:p>
5. Building BizTalk Messaging Pipelines and Adapters <o:p></o:p>
This session is lab-intensive, covering the primary components for implementing
BizTalk Messaging: Developing BizTalk Adapters and BizTalk Pipeline Components.
<o:p></o:p> How to configure, deploy, and use Native BizTalk Adapters <o:p></o:p>
How to build custom adapters using the BizTalk Adapter Framework <o:p></o:p> How
security is managed for BizTalk Adapters <o:p></o:p> How to develop, configure
and deploy BizTalk Pipelines and Pipeline Components <o:p></o:p>
6. Introduction to BTS 2004 Orchestration Integration <o:p></o:p>
This session is lab-intensive, covering a broad array of topics intended as an
introduction to Orchestration Designer tools and features, Web Services integration,
message correlation, and the design theory behind the XLANG/s and BPEL4WS language
specifications. <o:p></o:p> How to orchestrate Web Services <o:p></o:p> How
to orchestrate Human Workflow Services <o:p></o:p> How to troubleshoot orchestration
<o:p></o:p> How XLANG/s differs from BPEL4WS <o:p></o:p>
7. BizTalk Server 2004 Administration <o:p></o:p>
This session is designed to provide the minimum learning requirements for
installation, configuration, deployment, and administration of BizTalk Server 2004.
(An additional breakout course, entitled "BizTalk Server Administration" is highly
recommended for more in-depth coverage of this topic.) <o:p></o:p> How BizTalk
Server fits in to your enterprise network environment <o:p></o:p> What components
and services BizTalk Server provides and their dependencies <o:p></o:p> How to
manage servers, databases, and BizTalk artifacts <o:p></o:p> How to track and
troubleshoot BizTalk Messaging <o:p></o:p>
