----------------------------------------------------------- From: sashisme Message 3 in Discussion Most of what lakshmi has said should work, except for the part at the end. You CANNOT exec a dynamic sql string inside an UDF. You cannot even use "sp_executesql" inside the UDF. (You can use only extended SPs and sp_executesql is not an extended SP. Extended SPs start with XP_ ) What you can do is construct a dynamic sql inside the UDF as lakshmi has suggested, and return it back to your calling stored proc and exec it there. Alternatively you can use a stored proc instead of the UDF and do whatever lakshmi has said. It shouldn't give u any issues. ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/bdotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
