Active Directory is not a part of Exchange Server. Exchange Server interacts
with the Active Directory for the users to be created.

You can create the Active Directory by upgrading your machine to a Domain
Controller. To upgrade a to a DC goto windows start -> dcpromo command.

Once the Active Directory is installed you can install Exchange Server 2007 on
the same as this is for testing.

Hi,

I am looking for help in installing and deploying Exchange Server 2007 just for
development. I want a setup wherein there are 10 users and they can send emails
and calendar events to each other. The Exchange Server is not required to be
connected to the internet and is to be used in the local area network.

I was going through the installation document and found that Active Directory
is a must for Exchange Server installation deployment, I would like to know
is'nt Active Directory a part of the Exchange Server 2007, can it be installed
in the same computer as Exchange Server and does it come with Windows Server
2003 R2
