Once moved away from page a to page b, viewstate of page a will be lost. Viewstate is stored in a hidden field. It will be posted along with the page. Viewstate is useful when your page requires to handle postback data. Assume you have two textboxes and one button on page a. When you press button you have to show a message with the textbox values. This case viewstates are helpfull. It stores the textbox values in a hidden field and make available at the postback. Try disabling viewstate for the page and try again, you can see that values aree not persisted on controls. I have 1 web page with 2 txt boxes and 1 submit button.Suppose it is a.aspx and adjusted with View state in page level.. I have 1 more web page called b.aspx with few text boxes and one back button. First Im redirecting a.aspx page to b.aspx page and done som work with b.aspx. By clicking on back button b.aspx page , I am redirecting to b.aspx.
