The May 2011 edition of Boulder Ruby will be a bit different. First, we're meeting on Wednesday, May 18th. Second, the meeting is part of Boulder Startup Week, http://boulderstartupweek.com/. We will have some additional guests at our meeting for those participating in the week's activities. Third, we're going to have food and beer on hand.
For the meeting's agenda, we'll open doors at 6:30 for socializing, networking, food and beer. One of the things we're going to try is have sponsored food and beer for our meetings going forward. Pivotal Labs has generously offered to cater food at the meetings going forward. Obtiva has stepped up to sponsor beer for the May and June meetings. We would like other companies to sponsor beer going forward so please contact me offlist to find out more about that. We'll start the presentations at 7:30. Tyler Montgomery will start first with his presentation Sinatra: Unlearning Rails Magic. If you haven't dabbled with Sinatra yet, you should check this out. It's a great Ruby framework alternative to Rails to have in your toolbox. Nick Howard will follow up with a talk on Dubious and Mirah. Mirah is a fascinating, Ruby-like language that runs on the JVM. Dubious is a web framework built in Mirah that runs on Google's App engine. Our meeting will be hosted by Everlater in the Pivotal Labs' space at 17th and Pearl (directions below). http://boulderruby.org/meetings/2011/03/14/may-2011/ Cheers, Marty Haught http://boulderruby.org Directions: Everlater/Pivotal Labs 1701 Pearl St Boulder, CO 80302 Use the 17th St entrance closer to the alley on the NE side of the intersection.
