Whipped up box_accrual, a new plugin <https://github.com/redstreet/beancount_reds_plugins/tree/main/beancount_reds_plugins/box_accrual> that works in conjunction with the effective_date plugin <https://github.com/redstreet/beancount_reds_plugins/tree/main/beancount_reds_plugins/effective_date> to spread the effective “interest” of a box spread loan <https://www.boxtrades.com/faq/what-is-a-box-spread> across calendar years for an estimate of the capital losses taken each year.
That’s probably way too specific to be useful to most folks. More generally, the plugin takes a posting from an entry, and spreads it across years given a start and an end date. This is a common pattern in accounting called accrual accounting. If you have a use for it, feel free to use this plugin as a template to write your own plugin. Or if you want to make this plugin more generic and more widely useful, have at it. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Beancount" group.
