The barcodes at the grocery store are EAN/UPC codes. See
<http://www.uc-council.org/>. They contain nothing more than a product
number. Since they are doled out by a central body, the store can ensure
that no two products have the same number on them.

The number has two parts: a manufacturer code, and a product code for that
manufacturer.

Not sure. There may not be an easy way. You should probably contact the
