There's a checkbox on the project page which allows Global Read/Write of packages, separately from administration.
That's what I set my projects to these days. Just open them up for contributions. I maintain exclusive admin, so IF something ever comes in (unlikely), and IF I need to take administrative action on it (unlikely), I can. There's no danger. Another thing to be aware of is that passwords in SqueakSource are so insecure they may as well be cleartext.
