Replace it with

        if (defined($ARGV[0]) && (-T $ARGV[0]))

or possibly

        if (@ARGV && (-T $ARGV[0]))

whatever seems more intuitive (second form uses @ARGV in scalar context, thus 
converting it to number of elements).
