Theoretically you could use the perl binary on both 5.6 and 5.8 but doing
this through automount or NFS is not ideal if your only reason for doing
this is being too lazy to install a new version and modules on a local
filesystem :)

http://www.sunfreeware.com/ has a solid perl5.6.1 package for 5.8 and read
the section about Bundles on the CPAN FAQ at
http://www.cpan.org/misc/cpan-faq.html as it illustrates how you can use
CPAN.pm to make duplicating system installs of perl rather easy.
