perchance someone can help me find the appropriate forum for the technical discussions of implementing solutions that have legal ramifications for both the coder as well as the sites from which their code is run... [..] > Personally, I think it would be kosher/ethical for you to do it for > yourself, although the sites may not see it that way if they notice. I > don't feel it would be kosher/ethical for you to set it up as a service > for > hire. Setting it up for friends/family is the gray area. [..] thanks for taking my concern seriously. A while back - someone pointed out that one of the things I had constructed was a 'webBot' - and that these are used to get the information 'ad free' - which I had not thought about - but have started to think about in light of the pending legal case in re digital television which is putting the 30 second TV commercial at risk. Likewise there is the issue of so many dot.com's that were trying to survive on their ad revenue that went under... Given that we are also looking at the questions being raised in congress with regards to the CBDTPA - we face the need to either regulate ourselves - or have governmental mandates provided to us as to what can and can not be done 'on the internet'. Grey areas worry me.... My professional life has been coding to spec - where there were clean lines - and I did not spend a lot of time needing to worry about what the code would be used for - per se - although I know that in the cases where it was intent on replacing jobs with software I did what I could to get the people who's jobs I was replacing clued in to how to be users of the software and not redundent... So now the irony is even more painful... here I am trying to cut tools to help folks who are redundent get some but in a way that could undercut the 'revenue stream' of the very sites I would be scanning.... So I guess the technical solution is - how to build a webBot that knows how to click the adverts to make sure the site gets all the 'credit' it is suppose to - but doesn't that way lead to 'false eyeball counts'???? ciao drieux --- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
