You should realize that the copyright symbol will be different for different
character sets, and it won't exist in all of them.  For example, others
suggested using chr(169).  That is indeeed the copyright symbol in the
ISO-8859-1 character set, but in the ISO-8859-2 character set it's an S with
a caret on top.

So, if you're certain the character set people will be viewing your text in
will show the copyright symbol at chr(169), or it doesn't matter, then you
should use that.  Otherwise you'll have to gear it towards your audience;
(c) if it's text, &#copy; if it's HTML, and so on.
