Hello Ernesto,
If your current version of Perl is properly installed, the Configure
script for Perl 5.8 will prompt you for include directories for previous
versions -- thereby keeping the modules handy.
I recently upgraded to 5.8 from 5.6.1 and I have not found any modules
that didn't make it across. YMMV, since you are coming from an earlier
release.
