the message if for the line that says:
if( $pid > 0 ) {
Not too sure what to make of it??

Someone else already told you how to change that line to fix the error,
I wanted to explain the error. You set $pid to undef, then if
$CHILD_PIDS >= $MAX_CHILDREN, you do nothing, so $pid stays undef. You
then try to compare it to 0, but the > operator doesn't like the fact
that it is comparing an undef variable.
Hope this helps,
