For me picking up cvs from the docs alone was a miserable experience (no R. L. Schwartzes and T. Phoenixes). I started using it out of necessity, but obviously never picked up on some of its finer points. ;-) After spending a couple hours today setting up a new cvs repository for one of our servers (and trying out all the features that I had overlooked) I'm very happy I asked about this.
