I used the term list here as shorthand for listserv, orf mailing list. The beginners-perl mailing list is open to the public to subscribe. It is also pus;ished on a web-site and newsgroup that anyone can subscribe to. Given this, any claim to confidential nature is rather specious. This doesn't mean that copyrights do not hold. If you write any kind of original material, you have the copyright to that material. How much control you cede by publication to a public forum like this is a fine point of law, and I have no idea where the current boundaries are set.
