Could you try instead foreach my $obj_Story (@{$newdoc->StoryRanges}) { ..... ....... } As I remember from my past experience with Win32::OLE stuff, Perl doesn't know that $newdoc->StoryRanges is a list, therefore you need to be more explicit.
