We should develop a programming language conversion tool, that would be able to port Microsoft and Mac programs into Open Solaris or BeleniX, or any open source distribution for that matter, directly into use. This is not to be confused with Wine or any compatibility mode, but an actual program conversion, if the program was previously protected it could remain protected. We could open a huge base of users if they could suddenly use Microsoft Word, or play there Microsoft Games on Open Source, it could even go so far as enhancing the usability of the original program by optimizing the runtime background. This would require a lot of work but would be far more rewarding in the end.
