The temperature information is typically maintained in the PICL tree (Platform Information and Control Library). This information is maintained by the PICL daemon and is available via the prtpicl. But unfortunately, I do not see this output temperature information for x86 platform and (few of the low-end SPARC boxes) :( Not sure if there is any other interface possible. -Shiv
