Notification is a good idea but I am not keen for it to be on -dev list. I have found the commit notifications on various opensolaris lists as noise rather than being helpful, I have either unsubscribed from those lists if I was a lurker there, or I have set rules in my mail program if I have decided to stay on. Of the hundreds of files being worked upon notifications would be of interest to a sub-set even within the set of active contributors. Also people sitting on the fence may see all the notification mails as noise and switch to the wrong side, esp those who are on the list who lurk and now & then cross-post contributions. I would suggest sending the notification to the sf.net list of belenix instead and those interested are free to subscribe as necessary. belenix-notify at lists.sourceforge.net will become operational within 24 hours. We can pilot it and if people find it useful to have that information on belenix-dev we can redirect the notifications. Thoughts ? -Shiv
