Yes, precisely,
I am able to get it to boot to by choosing the second option ("32 bit,
disable ACPI ")
It gives a lot of UART errors but manages to boot.
Unfortunately, I am unable to capture the exact errors because I
booted the laptop using the livecd itelf ( ie on the bare box itself,
not on a VM )
