Yes, we use axel.

Just some cross checks: have you verified if axel can or cannot work
the same as aria2c ? Does aria2c provide a multi-segmented download
like axel?

Could you provide modifications to the install-belenix script which
detects and uses aria2c if that's available. I can test this for you
at my workplace.

One of the Bangpypers, Anand Balachandra Pillai, had developed a
multi-segmented downloader in python. We could ask him if he has some
solution to this requirement too.
