I cannot speak for Illumos, but SchilliX-ON, the independent OpenSolaris-ONNV continuation project is compiled on Sparc every time there is a change to break something. So we know that the SchilliX-ON base compiles on Sparc. In aprox. 2 weeks, SchilliX will most likely have a new (intel) version that is based on a completely SVr4 package based CD creation procedure. From now, I would guess that it makes sense to talk about a sparc variant in aprox. 2 months from now.
