Correct and for this reason, Illumos did change too much at some places already.

Solaris Old-timers like to have standard compatibility and backwards 
compatibility. 

It seems that the Illumos people e.g. insist in having their private broken 
"od" instead of using this implementation:

That is POSIX compliant and fully compatible (except for bugs) to the old Sun 
closed source od.

The minmum consensus may be very tiny...
