Hi all,
This is my second mail on this topic - and this is probably the most
difficult to handle :).

Until now, there has been no formal definition of what an Ankur Project
is. However, after seeing the recent flame wars, I think we should move
towards some kind policy defining what an Ankur Project is. This policy
should be framed in a collective manner - and let me initialise the
discussion on this.

Of the various Ankur projects - the following features are common:

1. They are all linked from Ankur's site
(ankurbangla.org/bengalinux.org)
        Exception being Firefox project.
2. All the coordinators of the projects are subscribed to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
3. All the project specific mailing lists are linked from Ankur's site.
        Exception being Firefox project.
4. All the mailing list archives are open to all (no logging in
required)
        Exception being Firefox project.
5. With respect to translation - all try to follow the standard wordlist
and standard accelerator key list
http://www.bengalinux.org/devel_guide/ch03s04.html#id2501128
6. All follow the same review policy - ie, before the file goes into
CVS/Bugzilla, it is submitted to the mailing list for peer review.
7. All project coordinators are listed at
http://sourceforge.net/project/memberlist.php?group_id=43331
Exception being Firefox project, unless Jamil is the
        coordinator/co-cordinator.

Now - I think if a particular project meets all these requirements - and
if the project coordinator makes an announcement of the project at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (though, I am myself guilty of not doing so for the
OOo project), and if there is no valid objections from the *active*
members, that project is automatically qualified as an Ankur project.

Comments, flames, brickbats, additions are welcome.

Thanks,

Sayamindu

PS: I have my exams from tomorrow - so don't expect a reply from me
before Saturday/Sunday.
