It's interesting that at 10 GBit 300 m SR fiber is an optical FIFO for a 1500 MTU, like a modern version of mercury delay line storage. Once they figure out optical gate crossbars and suitable header layout (e.g. precomputed path, header bits directly selecting crossbar ports), purely photonic cut-through can't be far behind. -- Eugen* Leitl leitl http://leitl.org ______________________________________________________________ ICBM: 48.07100, 11.36820 http://www.ativel.com http://postbiota.org 8B29F6BE: 099D 78BA 2FD3 B014 B08A 7779 75B0 2443 8B29 F6BE _______________________________________________ Beowulf mailing list, [email protected] sponsored by Penguin Computing To change your subscription (digest mode or unsubscribe) visit http://www.beowulf.org/mailman/listinfo/beowulf
