Our Willie was born with the brightest blue eyes one can imagine, but at
about four months they began changing color and now at 16 months are a
beautiful golden brown. As a pet quality pup, his is a limited
registration, but to the best of my knowledge there is no prohibition
against him competing in carting or obedience, since we just finished Basic
Obedience Level I and are planning on going on to higher levels with the
ultimate goal of carting.

As to breeding, we wouldn't want to use Willie as a stud dog since he did
start off with those crystal blue eyes. Someone else can explain the
genetics of it, but since Willie does carry that gene there is always the
chance of it popping up again in his progeny and those eyes NOT turning
brown later on. We had him neutered at about seven months.

Doesn't matter to us, since Willie is the light of our lives and fills his
role nicely, that being to keep us laughing out loud and Berner-Hugging us
on a daily basis.
