Hello Jennifer

Welcome to the list. Lots of great and very passionate Berner owners here
with loads of good information.

Beef knuckle bones would serve two purpose's, give him something to chew on
helping with his need to chew and help keep his teeth tartar free.
We also buy the rack of beef ribs when they are on sale cutting them into
individual ribs and keep the extra in the freezer. Of course there are not
many extra when you have four adult Berners. The also get some calcium from
the bones .. We do not feed any extra calcium other than what they get from
bones.

The dogs love those and of course with any bones one wants to watch them and
maybe confine them to a non carpeted area till they get the bone cleaned off
some.

Ours get the bones outside and will spend hours working on them.
I will knock on wood and keep my fingers crossed as I say this, but we have
never had a problem of any kind from the Bones. well maybe a soft stool if
there is to much fat on them.
