Thank you, Mary, for your excellent post on understanding OFA and GDC hip
and elbow certifications. I decided to go in and "test" the information on
my girl, Blackcoral Divine Miss "M" (Maddie), with GDC. Good thing I did!
They had her name misspelled, so I was unable to find her where she belonged
(story of her life!).
I was also surprised that I was unable to verify the information on her hips
and elbows -- only her number was listed, not the scores. So what if I were
a PPO who happened to see Maddie, liked her looks, and wanted to research
her lines? Can I find any information at the OFA or GDC website, or would
I have to order a Kin Report? On the sample Kin Report, I didn't get much
information that my feeble brain could understand. Seems to me that would
be a little intimidating to someone new to this -- is there no way to
"cruise" around, looking at hip and elbow scores of several different dogs
or families?
It's been a while since I've attempted to research a breeder's lines, and
I'm sure there are newbies (and relative-newbies such as myself) out there
who would like some explicit instructions as to how to research a particular
dog or lines. Mary-Ann, I think you posted an excellent set of instructions
a while back. Maybe while your puppies are taking a nap, your teenagers are
absent, and between loads of wash you could find and repost that, please?
Braindead in Montana,
Vicky Whitney
